What are the forces that determine how our education system looks and functions? Why does our education system look like it does? Has it always been this way? Will it be like this for eternity?
We, teachers, need to understand which are the forces that shape our education system. Both in a positive and negative way. And we also need to understand which role we as current or future teachers play.
About 3 years ago, I first began researching the impact of military activities on our planet. A notable example I found was the poisoning of groundwater wells in California.
So, the U.S. conducted another drone strike on foreign territory. They killed a suspected terrorist leader without due process. And our media is cheering. Despite the fact that the U.S. again violated international law.
Germany is in deep shit for several reasons. For years, we relied on cheap fossil fuels from Russia. Now we are begging for oil from equally vile regimes, instead of pushing for energy independence. And that dependence will not go away. Not if the only solution to solve the transport needs of millions of citizens is the private car.
First of all, all healthcare systems have strengths and weaknesses. But I will double down on that universal healthcare is a human right.
Unfortunately, there are some very persistent myths about ADHD out there. Also among educators.
The airlines are reeling after Covid. The lockdowns are a major reason for that. The flight companies had to fire many employees during the pandemic. Now, they are not coming back.
I often see similarities between observations I make in the classroom and the world at large. Observing the EU and their struggle for emancipation is not an exception.
